Variable Seedeater
Sporophila corvina

Variable Seedeater is a relatively easily found resident of marshy areas in Panama and elsewhere in the Neotropics. I found this singing bird at the Ammo Dump Ponds (so named because they border an old American munitions storage plot) near Gamboa, Panama, in August, 2003.

A Variable Seedeater lets loose with its song.
