Tody Motmot
Hylomanes momotula

Mike Manetz and I enjoyed our first looks at the tiny Tody Motmot at a typically-distant range below Chorro Macho, in El Valle, Panama. Our next sighting was much more satisfying, as Danílo Rodriguez called a bird in close along the road above the Canopy Lodge. The image below is a bit dark and blurry, but really not bad considering the difficult lighting conditions. This Tody Motmot was filmed in July of 2005.

A modest image of the lovely Tody Motmot.
