| Mallards are easily the most familiar and favored duck in North America. Of course, their good looks make then popular with domestic breeders as well, and escapees mix freely with wild stock. Mallards have adapted quite well to the human population, and can often be found enjoying handouts. Consequently, they are largely ignored by serious birders. |
| My local park, Inwood Hill Park, has its share of bread-hawking Mallards, and I usually avoid them (and the mob of equally greedy gulls in the area). But one day in March, 2005, I decided to stop for a little video of this handsome drake, who was energetically preening at the time. |
