Great Egret
Ardea alba

This species was known for a time as "Common Egret"- the current name is much more appropriate given its great size, and only sporadic abundance. The lovely Great Egret pictured below was filmed in a small wetland outside my hotel in Bonita Springs, Florida, in June of 2005.

A handsome Great Egret, quite familiar in Florida State.
