Common Ground-Dove
Columbina passerina

Common Ground-Dove has a rather broad range across the southern U.S., the Caribbean, and Central America; so far I've seen this bird in 8 countries and 3 states plus a territory (possibly the most nations for any native species). So I didn't expect any surprises from this species, until I came across this pair of doves in a tree on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. I had to do a great deal of research to find out that these were merely juvenille Common Ground-Doves, not a rarer species. After searching multiple field guides, I ultimately found an article (I don't recall exactly where) on Ground-Dove plumage variation; just goes to show that there is no substitute for real field experience!
