Blue-gray Tanager
Thraupis episcopus

Blue-gray Tanager is a common resident of much of the neotropics; I saw my first members of this species in Trinidad, frequenting fruit feeders at the Asa Wright Nature Centre. I found this lovely specimen again near feeders, at a private home in Gamboa, Panama, in August 2003.

The common, but still beautiful, Blue-Gray Tanager.

On my month-long tour of central and western Panama in the summer of 2005 I found Blue-gray Tanager in habitated areas throughout the country. The accomodating bird pictured below was filmed in Boquete, in July of 2005.

Another nice look at a striking Blue-Gray Tanager.
